Inside Presque Isle City Hall: 5.10.2024 PIPD Partners With The Aroostook Mental Health Center to Provide Mental Health Help In Emergency Response Calls

The Presque Isle Police Department have partnered with The Aroostook Mental Health Center to offer mental health assistance in the field when patrol officers respond to emergency calls. According to PIPD Police Chief Chris Hayes, a number of the calls local police respond to involve mental health challenges. He says having mental health practitioners as part of the emergency responding team will help in getting more people access to services, resources and above all help in dealing with these crises.
