Firefighter/Paramedic
The City of Presque Isle is currently accepting applications for two (2) open Firefighter/Paramedic positions. The Fire Department works a 42-hour work week consisting of 24 hour shifts as follows, one on, one off, one on, 5 days off.
This is an entry level Firefighting position with the City and an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic motivated professional to become a valued member of an innovative, progressive fire department. Presque Isle Fire Department serves approximately 75 square miles, with a population of roughly 9,800 nighttime residence increasing to roughly 20,000 daytime population. Successful candidates’ primary functions will be providing EMS care through 911 responses, fire suppression, airport firefighting, fire prevention, life safety inspection.
This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a 25 year 2/3rd no age retirement plan, wage step increases, employee and family medical health coverage, paid vacation and sick time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Firefighter II Preferred.
- Current Maine Paramedic License or be currently enrolled in a Paramedic program with a completion date of 12 months.
- Current EMT or Advanced EMTs will be considered and required to obtain Paramedic License within 24 months.

Public Works- Maintenance Worker/Truck Driver
The City of Presque Isle Public Works is seeking a full-time maintenance worker and truck drivers. Activities include but are not limited to grounds maintenance, highway maintenance and snow blowing sidewalks. This position performs skilled and semi-skilled work operating light and moderately heavy trucks and automotive equipment. Successful applicant will need to become familiar with the geography of the City. Previous experience is preferred in: the operation of standard automotive equipment, light and heavy equipment; road and street construction; and operating a snowplow with wing. Class B CDL required.
The position offers a comprehensive wage and benefit package including:
- Starting wage $21.53 - $23.66 based on experience

Recreation Programmer
The City of Presque Isle has an opening for a Recreation Programmer. The Recreation Programmer works under the general direction of the Director of Recreation and Parks, performing; responsible administrative and supervisory work in developing, scheduling, and directing recreational programs. Work involves responsibility for the development, coordination and supervision of recreation activities; as well as hiring training and supervising instructors. The program director is responsible for implementing specialized program, promoting and publicizing the various aspects of the City’s recreation program and supervising the recreation program budget. This position requires a considerable amount of public contact with children, parents and people of all ages. Work requires independent judgment, ingenuity to accomplish recreation objectives. Considerable experience in recreation work including experience at a supervisory level preferred. Candidate should be available for evening and weekend hours.

Custodian
The City of Presque Isle has an immediate opening for one full-time Custodian at The Forum. This position requires general knowledge of cleaning and the use of cleaning equipment and may require minor building maintenance.

The Forum - Administrative/Event Coordinator
The City of Presque Isle is looking for an Administrative Assistant/Event Coordinator that will work under the direction of the Facilities Manager. Duties will include clerical and bookkeeping work along with promoting and planning events, assigning and supervising concession workers, ticket seller, and skate guards, setting up concessions and inventory. Work involves considerable contact with the public, handling calls and inquiries to The Forum.
