  • Administrative Assistant - Sargent Family Community Center
    The Sargent Family Community Center is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant to the Recreation Department. This position is responsible for serving as a receptionist and clerical assistant to the Director of Recreation and Parks and the Programmer. The position is also responsible for the performance of varied departmental bookkeeping, accounting and related processes. Previous experience with QuickBooks is desired.

    Tax Clerk - Part-Time
    The City of Presque Isle is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Tax Clerk in our Finance Department. The individual will become part of our team in the Tax Office with duties to include collecting real estate, personal property and excise taxes; registering motor vehicles; issuing City licenses and permits and providing service to customers at the front desk.

    The Tax Clerk is assigned a teller drawer and must be able to multi-task and work with accuracy in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have excellent communication skills and experience dealing with the public in a courteous and effective manner. A high school education supplemented with business courses is desirable; computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and municipal software; work experience in municipal tax collections; and clerical work of a progressive nature; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

    This position offers a 401(a)/457(b) retirement plan or Maine Public Employees Retirement System. Starting wage is $17.70 per hour.

    Airport - Heavy Equipment Operator
    The Presque Isle International Airport is accepting applications for a full-time heavy equipment operator in a fast-paced aviation environment. The Airport has an extensive fleet of large late model airport snow removal and construction equipment. The right person will have extensive past experience and be fully proficient in the operation of construction equipment such as tri-axial dump truck, frontend loader, excavator, and bulldozer. In lieu of experience in construction equipment, extensive experience in the operation of airport snow blowers, airport snow removal brooms or runway snow plows will be welcomed. This position offers significant earning potential with the opportunity to work overtime on a regular basis during the winter months. Summer months offer a four-ten-hour day weekly work schedule providing the opportunity to fully enjoy the wonderful summers in Northern Maine. The position offers the convenience of a short daily commute to a permanent work location.

    Airport - Seasonal Equipment Operators
    Are you an excellent construction equipment operator looking for the opportunity to earn as much as you do during the short construction season!

    The Presque Isle International Airport is accepting applications for the seasonal position of Airport Maintenance Equipment Operator. This position is available for approximately 4 months-December through March, and will be a minimum of 40 hours per week with the opportunity to work significant amounts of overtime. Primary duties involve assisting the Airport Maintenance Supervisor with snow removal and maintenance on various equipment. Previous experience operating equipment such as, a wheeler truck, excavator, grader, bulldozer and/or pay loader is required. Snow removal experience is preferred. Starting wage is $17.00-19.00 per hour.

    Public Works - Truck Driver
    The City of Presque Isle Public Works is a full-time maintenance worker and truck drivers. Activities include but are not limited to grounds maintenance, highway maintenance and snow blowing sidewalks. This position performs skilled and semi-skilled work operating light and moderately heavy trucks and automotive equipment. Successful applicant will need to become familiar with the geography of the City. Previous experience is preferred in: the operation of standard automotive equipment, light and heavy equipment; road and street construction; and operating a snowplow with wing. Class B CDL required, but willing to train the right candidate.

    Firefighter/Paramedic
    The City of Presque Isle currently hiring for two (2) new Firefighter/Paramedic.

    This is an entry level Firefighting position with the City and an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic motivated professional to become a valued member of an innovative, progressive, fire department. Presque Isle Fire Department serves approximately 75 square miles, with a population of roughly 9,800-night time residence increasing to roughly 20,000-day time population, successful candidates’ primary function will be providing EMS care through 911 responses, fire suppression, airport firefighting, fire prevention, life safety inspection, Haz-Mat Decon while working a 24 / 48 shift schedule.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
