  • Firefighter/Paramedic
    The City of Presque Isle currently hiring for one (1) new Firefighter/Paramedic.

    This is an entry level Firefighting position with the City and an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic motivated professional to become a valued member of an innovative, progressive, fire department. Presque Isle Fire Department serves approximately 75 square miles, with a population of roughly 9,800-night time residence increasing to roughly 20,000-day time population, successful candidates’ primary function will be providing EMS care through 911 responses, fire suppression, airport firefighting, fire prevention, life safety inspection, Haz-Mat Decon while working a 24 / 48 shift schedule.

    This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a 25 year 2/3rd no age retirement plan, wage step increases, employee and family medical health coverage, paid vacation and sick time.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
    • Firefighter II Preferred.
    • Current Maine Paramedic License or be currently enrolled in a Paramedic program with a completion date of 12 months.
    • Current EMT or Advanced EMTs will be considered, required to obtain Paramedic License within 24 months.

    Police Officer
    The Presque Isle Police Department has immediate openings for the position of full-time Patrol Officer. The Presque Isle Police Department is seeking qualified, motivated, and community-oriented individuals for the position of Police Officer. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a 25 year 2/3rd no age retirement plan (Maine Public Employees Plan 3C), competitive wages with liberal overtime opportunities, wage step increases, college tuition reimbursement, employee and family medical health coverage, paid vacation and sick leave. The new hire pay range, depending upon experience, is $17.89 - $21.66 per hour. Individuals with honorable military experience, an Associate’s Degree or greater, or certified Maine Criminal Justice Academy graduates with current police certification are encouraged to apply.     Outdoor Program Director
    The City of Presque Isle has an opening for a Recreation and Parks Outdoor Program Director. The Outdoor Program Director is responsible for the overall operation and function of the Outdoor / Adventure based programs. This position is responsible for administrative and supervisory work in developing, scheduling, promoting and directing outdoor recreational programs. This also involves hiring, training and supervising instructors and support staff. A class B license is desired.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    · BA or BS degree in outdoor recreation, adventure/outdoor education, environmental science, natural history or related field, or equivalent training in outdoor recreational programs.
    · Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience in an outdoor recreation leadership work, and/or Five (5) to Ten (10) years in outdoor recreation guiding or programming.
    · Certified Wilderness First Responder, Swift Water Rescue.
    · An equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Tax Clerk
    The City of Presque Isle is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Tax Clerk in our Finance Department. The individual will become part of our team in the Tax Office with duties to include collecting real estate, personal property and excise taxes; registering motor vehicles; issuing City licenses and permits and providing service to customers at the front desk.

    The Tax Clerk is assigned a teller drawer and must be able to multi-task and work with accuracy in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have excellent communication skills and experience dealing with the public in a courteous and effective manner. A high school education supplemented with business courses is desirable; computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and municipal software; work experience in municipal tax collections; and clerical work of a progressive nature; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

    This position offers a comprehensive benefit package including, employee and family medical health coverage, vision, dental, 401(a)/457(b) retirement plan or Maine Public Employees Retirement System. Starting wage is $17.35 - $18.43 per hour.
