  • Airport Maintenance Foreman
    The Presque Isle International Airport is accepting applications for a full-time Airport Maintenance Foreman. Working in a fast-paced aviation environment, the successful candidate will continue the legacy of exceptional preventive maintenance which results in a high level of equipment readiness and excellent airfield conditions.

    This position is responsible for maintenance and operations of vehicles and grounds in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 139 requirements. The work is performed under the general direction of the Airport Director, but considerable leeway is given for the exercise of independent judgment in accomplishing tasks while following established procedures and routines. Supervisory responsibilities include scheduling and training maintenance staff in accordance with the Airport Certification Manual (ACM), scheduling and overseeing maintenance work to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner, and maintaining required paperwork and documentation. The Airport Maintenance Foreman operates/supervises others in the operation of tractors, bulldozers, mowers, skid steers, graders, excavators, specialized snow removal equipment and large trucks to maintain airport grounds and runway and taxiway areas. Other duties include maintaining runway and taxiway lights, windsocks, airport fencing and gates, as well as performing daily inspections and night inspections.

    Development Specialist
    The City of Presque Isle is seeking a qualified applicant for the full-time position of Development Specialist. The Development Specialist works under the general direction of the Director of Economic and Community Development performing: responsible administrative work coordinating local economic development and planning activities. Work involves: liaison between local, County, State, Federal and private agencies involved economic and community development; considerable contact with government officials and the general public, either in person or correspondence; and considerable initiative and imagination in developing local level plans and programs. Work is performed with considerable independence and may be reviewed through reports, discussions, and observation. In addition, act as Deputy Code Enforcement Officer, the Development Specialist assists the Code Enforcement Officer with administrative and technical work, as necessary, for building, plumbing, and electrical permits and inspections; health inspections; and related controlling ordinances and codes. The Development Specialist further assists the Director of Economic and Community Development in planning, implementing and managing programs or projects assigned to the department.

    Public Works Director
    The City of Presque Isle is seeking an energetic and experienced individual to serve as the Director of Public Works in this full-service municipality. The Star City has a resident population of 9,000 is 72 square miles and maintains 147 miles of roads. As a service center, the population swell during business hours reaches in excess of 20,000.

    This position administers all public works functions for the City including operation and maintenance of streets, drainage, buildings & grounds, equipment, and public works staff. Requires team oriented management. Key issues include: maximizing performance, service delivery, accountability of department staff; and the planning and completion of significant capital improvement projects. Responsibilities include departmental operations; budget management and preparation; oversight of contract engineers and consultants; and participation in City Capital planning. Emphasis on strong management and leadership; personnel administration; organizing for efficiency and effectiveness; long-range planning; financial acumen; accountability and completion of capital projects on time and within budget.

    The ideal candidate must be a creative individual with demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, management, oral and written communication, evaluating public works functions and improving systems; possess the ability to comprehend and administer city and state laws. This position is appointed by, and reports to, the City Manager.

    Applicant must possess a minimum of 5 to 10 years of upper management level supervisory experience is required in highway construction and maintenance operations; associates degree or equivalent technical degree in related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Tax Clerk - Part-Time
    The City of Presque Isle is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Tax Clerk in our Finance Department. The individual will become part of our team in the Tax Office with duties to include collecting real estate, personal property and excise taxes; registering motor vehicles; issuing City licenses and permits and providing service to customers at the front desk.

    The Tax Clerk is assigned a teller drawer and must be able to multi-task and work with accuracy in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have excellent communication skills and experience dealing with the public in a courteous and effective manner. A high school education supplemented with business courses is desirable; computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and municipal software; work experience in municipal tax collections; and clerical work of a progressive nature; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

    This position offers a 401(a)/457(b) retirement plan or Maine Public Employees Retirement System. Starting wage is $17.70 per hour.

    Airport - Heavy Equipment Operator
    The Presque Isle International Airport is accepting applications for a full-time heavy equipment operator in a fast-paced aviation environment. The Airport has an extensive fleet of large late model airport snow removal and construction equipment. The right person will have extensive past experience and be fully proficient in the operation of construction equipment such as tri-axial dump truck, frontend loader, excavator, and bulldozer. In lieu of experience in construction equipment, extensive experience in the operation of airport snow blowers, airport snow removal brooms or runway snow plows will be welcomed. This position offers significant earning potential with the opportunity to work overtime on a regular basis during the winter months. Summer months offer a four-ten-hour day weekly work schedule providing the opportunity to fully enjoy the wonderful summers in Northern Maine.     Airport - Seasonal Equipment Operators
    Are you an excellent construction equipment operator looking for the opportunity to earn as much as you do during the short construction season!

    The Presque Isle International Airport is accepting applications for the seasonal position of Airport Maintenance Equipment Operator. This position is available for approximately 4 months-December through March, and will be a minimum of 40 hours per week with the opportunity to work significant amounts of overtime. Primary duties involve assisting the Airport Maintenance Supervisor with snow removal and maintenance on various equipment. Previous experience operating equipment such as, a wheeler truck, excavator, grader, bulldozer and/or pay loader is required. Snow removal experience is preferred. Starting wage is $17.00-19.00 per hour.

    Public Works - Truck Driver
    The City of Presque Isle Public Works is a full-time maintenance worker and truck drivers. Activities include but are not limited to grounds maintenance, highway maintenance and snow blowing sidewalks. This position performs skilled and semi-skilled work operating light and moderately heavy trucks and automotive equipment. Successful applicant will need to become familiar with the geography of the City. Previous experience is preferred in: the operation of standard automotive equipment, light and heavy equipment; road and street construction; and operating a snowplow with wing. Class B CDL required, but willing to train the right candidate.

    Firefighter/Paramedic
    The City of Presque Isle currently hiring for two (2) new Firefighter/Paramedic.

    This is an entry level Firefighting position with the City and an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic motivated professional to become a valued member of an innovative, progressive, fire department. Presque Isle Fire Department serves approximately 75 square miles, with a population of roughly 9,800-night time residence increasing to roughly 20,000-day time population, successful candidates’ primary function will be providing EMS care through 911 responses, fire suppression, airport firefighting, fire prevention, life safety inspection, Haz-Mat Decon while working a 24 / 48 shift schedule.
