Vision Statement:The Department of Planning & Development encompasses the various disciplines of the planning and economic development, land use regulations, and the health management functions for the City to help improve the quality of life for Presque Isle residents.
The main focus of the Department of Planning & Development is to help implement strategic and comprehensive planning, initiate and promote activities to stimulate economic growth and job creation, and ensure the public's safety, health and welfare.

Ken Arndt, Planning & DevelopmentKen Arndt was hired in the Planning & Development Department in the fall of 2006. Ken received his BA degree in Planning and Development in 1971 and has over 30+ years of professional experience in the field at the private and public sector levels.
From 1994 to 2006, Ken took a hiatus from the planning and economics field and served as the Executive Director of a large, regional preschool program. The program delivered diverse services to children, under the age of five, with developmental delays and other early childhood disabilities.
In his off time Ken is a registered Maine Guide and a private entrepreneur with a successful business in the hunting and fishing industry.
Ken is a proud father of three grown children, twin girls and a son. He resides in Presque Isle with his wife since 1972.
